Turpin Challenge

Saturday 14 September 2024
Start time : 11:00

Back for its 6th outing, the Turpin Challenge is one of our most popular events for a reason. A fabulously relaxed event you choose your own target for the day.

It's a 6 hour running challenge; a lapped event with laps of approximately 4.37 miles. You can run as few or as many laps as you wish within the 6 hour limit. All runners, no matter how many laps they have run will receive a bespoke medal (new design for 2024) and a goody bag.

So, you can run one lap, finish, eat cake and go home or you could run 3 laps for a half marathon distance, 6 for a marathon or see how many laps you can do until the 6 hours is up. This a fabulous event for running with friends and for making new friends.

The event will take place on York's main Knavesmire. The race is named after Dick Turpin, the infamous highway man who was held in York Prison before his trial. The race goes by Tyburn (on the Knavesmire), the very place Dick Turpin met his grizzly end.

The route is mixed terrain of grass and path and is closed to traffic.

Like our other events, it is cupless. Please bring your own bottle or cup and we will happily fill and refill this for you with squash, water or coke on the day. We will have a well stocked aid station with sweets, savoury snacks and fruit and this will be accessible each lap.

Final race information will be e-mailed a week before the event and registration and bib collection will be on the morning of the race.
